Don’t you hate when you crack an egg and you’re left with parts of it in all the wrong places – like your newly cleaned counter top, shells in your batch, or on the floor? Sometimes, it’s been so bad that I’ve had to pick a ton of teeny, itty, bitty shells for a minute or three from the batter. When that happens, I usually give the biggest serving to my guests. Kidding – making sure you’re still with me.

Since no one has time for that annoyance, you’ll thank me later for this post – Kitchen Tip: Perfectly Cracking Eggs.

Even if you only need to crack one egg, grab a second one. You’ll need it for this tip.
Kitchen Tip: Perfectly Cracking Eggs
Hold an egg lengthwise in each hand and touch the centers together to visualize where they have to meet in order to crack.

Tap them together, but not too hard. You may have to tap them a couple of times, especially if you’re just learning this technique.

Items Needed

  • Two Eggs – even if you only need one
  • Something to drop the egg into and something to discard the shell into

Directions

  1. Hold an egg lengthwise in each hand and touch the centers together to visualize where they have to meet in order to crack.
  2. Tap them together, but not too hard. You may have to tap them a couple of times, especially if you’re just learning this technique.
  3. One egg will crack while the other stays in tact.
