Farmers Market Find
When May hits, we can’t wait to check out farmer’s markets in any city we’re visiting or inhabiting. Lots of times, we’ll end up seeing the same vendors. In some cases, that’s a good thing, but we’re really intrigued by unique home cooks. We checked out the Farmers Market at Highland Square and came across a gem. Let us introduce you to…
Born in Brooklyn Granola
The three of us just finished playing at a park and decided to go for ice cream before hitting up a farmers market. Having grabbed a bite before strolling down the market, we found that the food vendors weren’t tempting us too much. Our kiddo on the other hand was all about tasting salsas, petting ceramic animals crafted by local artists and pointing to cupcakes with frosting piled high to the sky.
We decided to make our way back to the car when one vendor asked, “Hey guys! Do you like granola?” Do we like granola? We love it!
He introduced us to a line of granola his wife created. We were intrigued by the Indian Fusion, which has candied ginger and pistachios. Wanting to compare their Original granola to regular store bought brands, we took a sample. Hey, it’s good to have a baseline, right? Well, their rendition outpaces anything you’d get at a grocery store with its pecans, almonds, cranberries and currants.
Aside from topping our yogurt with this granola, we worked them into a crumbled topping for muffins, cakes, pancakes, and ice cream.
The great thing is that you don’t have to go to the farmers market to get your fix. You can order online and they’ll ship to your door. If you sign up for their newsletter, you’ll be privy to any specials they run as well.
